Dear guests and friends of the house,

welcome to the Hotel Würzburger Hof, your exquisite private hotel in the heart of the Franconian university city Würzburg.

If you appreciate a unique experience, your eyes enjoy individual, exclusive furnishings and you are looking for a combination of tradition and modernity, you have found the right place with us. We can offer you a temporary home with loving and personal hospitality. We aim to provide a pleasant and familiar atmosphere to our international guests, coupled with a first- class service – a time-out from everyday life. To our great delight, we were rewarded with the Hotel Manager of the Year Award 2019 by the Trebing-Lecost Hotel Guide.

Since 2011 I have been managing this historic building, built in 1908, with great pleasure. My profession is my passion and in this understanding I take great care of this precious gem. Therefore, my team and I are constantly creating new and individual landscapes that provide high digital comfort for which we set a high standard – the so-called conscious hotel concept. We combine classic and antique pieces with new and modern furniture, high-class paintings from local arists and English wall colours, hereby creating spaces ready for living, working and sleeping – also suitable for longer stays. For special occasions with partners, family or friends, we have also arranged elegant suites and rooms.

We are known for rooms and suites with different styles and for different occasions. Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, as group, family or alone, our themes are uniquely shaped to our beautiful Würzburg, inspired by well-known figures that shape our city: Balthasar Neumann, Philipp Siebold, Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, Mozart or Alfred Brendel, as well as Franconian wine.

The many little extras, such as a welcoming glass of local wine and snacks for the little break, are a matter of course with us, as well as shoeshine service, individual advice on excursions and restaurants or theatre and concert reservations such as for the Mozart Festival. We have time for you and your needs.

It is important to us to offer you a fair price for your experience – the performance system. A reason why we would love to receive a fair rating from you too.

I look forward to welcoming you soon.

Sincerely yours,

Sabine Unckell

Unfortunately, we were disappointed with our stay at the Hotel Würzburger Hof. Here is a detailed review of our experience:Room: 2/5The Alt Würzburg Junior Suite (room 304) is spacious and combines old and new furnishing elements. Still, the room desperately needs a refresh. The bathroom and fixtures are badly worn and outdated. The two balconies were particularly negative - one accessible from the bathroom and the other from the entrance area. Both balconies were in a dilapidated condition: the chairs and tables were very dirty and not cleaned, the carpet was very dirty and an exposed power cable posed a safety risk. In addition, the coffee machine was calcified and smelled strongly of chlorine.Other guests noted similar defects and described the room as “shabby” and rated it that way, which confirmed our picture.Amenities: 2/5Although the suite was equipped with two large flat-screen TVs, overall furnishings were generally dated. The coffee machine had significant defects, which affected the comfort. The bathroom and fixtures were worn and in desperate need of updating. Overall, the equipment in the suite did not meet current standards and did not meet our expectations.Service: 2/5The service at the Hotel Würzburger Hof was disappointing. The reception staff often seemed overworked and were not always friendly. Occasionally you weren't greeted at all, which reinforced the impression of poor service.Breakfast: 5/5Breakfast was the standout part of our stay. The selection of fresh and quality food was great including a variety of breads, cheeses, cold cuts and fresh fruit. The breakfast room was cozy and offered a pleasant atmosphere. The ladies in breakfast service were professional and friendly - they deserve five stars.Cleaning of the rooms: 2/5The room was clean when we arrived, however the cleaning during our stay left a lot to be desired. On the penultimate day the room wasn't cleaned at all and used towels were left in the bathroom for two days. I had to get fresh towels and toilet paper myself, which significantly affected the comfort.Value for money: 1/5We paid 690 euros for three nights in this “Junior Suite” with breakfast. This price-performance ratio was disappointing and did not meet our expectations at all. We assumed a different standard and were disappointed.Photos and reality: 2/5The photos on the hotel website and in online portals give a much better impression of the rooms and suite than reality provides. In particular, the balconies that prompted us to book were not shown on the internet. The discrepancy between the photos and the actual accommodation was large. It would be fairer to present recent and realistic pictures to give a more accurate idea of the condition of the rooms and amenities.

We booked the hotel because of the optimal location but the hotel has a lot more to offer. Great staff!!! You almost feel like you're at home. A truly wonderful, tastefully and stylishly furnished hotel.

Amazing hotel, cozy, close to the train station and the historical centre of the city. Cafes, restaurants and supermarkets close, too. The most kind staff I have ever meet in a hotel. Really, really, really clean. Amazing breakfast. Would totally recommend!!

Beautiful little hotel conveniently located in Wurzburg's Altstadt and walking distance from the train station. Since we arrived early, the hotel happily stored our bags so we could enjoy visiting the town. Our rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was superb.

Charming hotel, comfortable rooms, conveniently located for walking around old town. Able to park in front of hotel to unload luggage, parking for fee. Wonderful breakfast available for a fee. We would highly recommend it. Only reason not giving this hotel five stars is due to our room overlooking Barbarossa Plaza and was noisy with late night and early morning public transportation.

FROM POPULAR INN TO FINE PRIVATE HOTEL

four women – one success story

In the early 19th century, a popular inn was located on the site of today’s Würzburger Hof. From 1908 until today the house was continuously owned by the family and converted into a hotel. Since 2011 this tradition has been carried on the devotedly by Sabine Unckell as managing director and fourth woman in succession in the form of a fine private hotel. Enjoy the enchanting combination of attention to detail, care for tradition and luxurious comfort at the Würzburger Hof. Go in search of clues and enjoy a glass of Franconian wine in a pleasantly familiar atmosphere or in an exchange with our international guests.
